Hot San Diego Weather

3:56 PM

So lately, in San Diego, the weather has been unbelievably sweltering hot. My Yahoo! weather app showed that thunder storms were going to occur in the 90 degree weather. Thank goodness it did not, or else it would have contributed more to the humidity in the air. San Diego is known for its unchanging seasons. The weather is pretty much stable, no drastic changes to distinct each season as spring, summer, fall or winter. They all just blend together. This summer, SD was around 80 degrees which is quite bearable. But this past week got hotter and hotter. It was simply warm air floating around the environment. My apartment traps heat like no other. -.- Therefore, I thought I would show you guys how I like to cool off in the scorching August season. I know in some places around the world, August is winter time. But here in the northern hemisphere, August marks the end of summer or the arrival of autumn. But before fall arrives, a blast of heat always attacks before leaving us to the cooler months of the year.
Anywho, let's get started.

My friend and I went to Yogurtland because we had a coupon for free 5 ounces. In my opinion, plain tart is best with fruits. But then again, fruit is heavy and expensive for a yogurt topping. Frozen yogurt, also known as froyo, is a good healthy alternative to ice cream, milkshakes and the like.

Now as you can see, it is 84.4 degrees in my apartment. So staying home was not a very desirable option. I took a stroll to my neighborhood Starbucks to spend some time in a cooled environment. Thank goodness for the invention of air conditioning. I use that time to journal while sipping on a soy latte. (I added some chocolate and cinnamon powder on top.) Did you know you can order it in a "for here" cup at Starbucks? Anyways, I ordered a tall but they gave the drink to me in a grande cup.

When these days are feverishly hot, I like to make homemade ice tea. I am an avid tea drinker, mostly green tea. I love my YamaMotoYama green tea or genmai tea, especially since it runs about $2 per box in Asian supermarkets. I also like using chrysanthemum tea or barley when I don't want it caffeinated. But here, I have Trader Joe's ginger pear white tea in that Starbucks tumbler. I just put a tea bag into a cup and then pour hot water. I let the tea cool and then stick in the in fridge to steep and cool overnight. Then by morning, the tea is refreshing and chilled. It is a perfect to-go drink for the summer time, a cheap alternative to Starbucks $4 tea.

I also venture to the public library to cool down and catch up on some reading. I am currently reading the last book of the Harry Potter series. I am taking it slow because I don't want to finish the series. I get too emotionally attached to characters. Any good reads that you guys picked up on recently?

Anyways, after going to the library, I spend some time at home watching Breaking Bad with my apartment mates. After dinner, I take a stroll when it is cool and breezy outside. I love summer nights. I consider this as my exercise because it is too hot to run or do any other workouts. Swimming is also a good option but I don't want to get any tanner than I already am thanks to the San Diego sun.

How do you guys cool down during the hot seasons?
