My Skin Care Routine
2:15 PMHere it is! My skin care routine :)
But before you start scrolling down, I just want to let you know about my skin type. I am an oily gal with sensitive skin that struggle with blackheads year round on my nose and occasional pimples. I am not skin doctor or expert; these are just products that I use regularly to take care of my face. Without further adieu, let's get started.
When I wake up, I go straight for the bathroom to brush my teeth and clean my face. I recently bought this foaming face wash after I tried the cream version. I much enjoyed the creamy version so I decided to try this. So far I'm enjoying the instant foaming :) it is so gentle to the skin. I use this in the morning to get off the oil that I have accumulated throughout my beauty sleep. (But when I wake up, I have a pretty normal face. Buy throughout the day, it oils up pretty quickly! I don't understand -.-").
HadaLabo Tamagohada AHA + BHA Daily Face Wash
Now this is my second tube of this. (I featured my first tube in my Empties #1 post). Now, I love this. It is also very gentle, but can foam quickly. I love using this face wash with a scrubby tool that I got from my L'Oreal Go 360 Clean Deep Facial Cleanser. I find that it lathers nicely to remove the BB cream/foundation after a long day. I also use the Olay Pro-X Cleansing Brush with this face wash every so often to get a better cleanse.
Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Daily Scrub
I just started using this like a week ago, and so far I am liking it. It contains 2% salicylic acid that helps keep acne, especially blackheads, at bay. I was looking for a scrub that can exfoliate gently and rid my nose of blackheads (or at least not let it get any worse). I usually use this at night in the shower, after I removed all my makeup/sunscreen. It does give off a cooling sensation that is quite enjoyable. But we shall see how effective this scrub is.
Dickinson's Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner
This is probably my 3rd or 4th bottle of this toner. I have been using this since high school. However, I have not tried too many toners out there so I cannot vouch whether this is the best toner out there. But I feel that this toner has helped me maintain my oily face. I use this day and night right after I wash my face. I like to soak a cotton pad and pat it on my nose to ensure that the pores are closed.
This is also my 2nd bottle. Haha. I bought my first one in HK two years ago. I pat this on day and night after I used my Dickinson's toner. I place a few drops of the lotion on my hand and pat it on my face. Patting helps the skin absorb the lotion (versus rubbing the lotion in). It has hyaluronic acid that helps the skin maintain moisture, which will help prevent wrinkles in the future.
KissMe Heroine Make Mascara Remover
I bought this mascara remover when I was in Hong Kong two years ago. I don't wear mascara often so that's probably why it has lasted me so long. It does the job for me when I use waterproof mascara. It looks like a mascara tube, but inside there is an applicator with groves instead of bristles. I usually comb this through my lashes 2-3 times, like how you would apply mascara. Then I wait for a while while I use coconut oil to dissolve the makeup on my face. Afterwards, I step in the shower to rinse everything off. I do like this product because it makes it easier to remove the waterproof mascara, but it is not worth the money that you pay. This is about ~$12 USD, but you can definitely make your own. Just use a clean mascara wand with eye-makeup remover.
I was Target one day looking for an eye makeup remover and a lady came up to me and told me that many of these products have harsh ingredients and chemicals that can age your skin. So she told me the best way to maintain good skin is to use all natural products and she recommended that I use coconut oil to melt away my eye and face makeup. And so I took her advice & I bought a huge jar of this solidified oil at Trader Joe's for ~$6. It is a little bit of the hassle because when the room temperature is cool, the coconut oil is solidified. So I usually warm it up in my palms to get rid of the chunks and use the oil on my hands to rub the sunscreen and makeup off. When the room temperature is hot enough, I would find some of the oil in liquid form. I would pour it out and do the same to clean my face. A little goes a long way, and so far it has lasted me a long while. I'd recommend it if you are looking for something affordable, long-lasting and all natural.
I use this around 4x a week, at night, to get a better cleaning of the pores on and around my nose. It is definitely cheaper and smaller than the Clarisonic system. I usually use this with my HadaLabo Tamagohada facial wash. The brush spins, and there are two settings (slow + fast). I think the slow speed setting is actually good enough; the fast speed setting is too abrasive and harsh. I let the machine gently glide on top of my face as it spins in a certain direction. Don't push the brush into the skin because it can get aggressive. It came with an exfoliating renewal cleanser, but I have yet to try it out.
Once again, I am a pretty loyal gal when it comes to skin care. I have used one bottle prior, and this is my 2nd. It is nothing spectacular, but it doesn't break me out. May not be the best for my oily skin because it's not particularly mattifying. However, it does the job in terms of moisturizing and keeping my face hydrated. I am just not very adventurous when it comes to moisturizer.
Now I have used mask in high school, and it does its job well. However somewhere along the way, I thought the more expensive the product, the better for the skin. And boy was I wrong! I recently picked this up, and I realize how great this works! I apply this on my nose and chin area 1-2x/week to get the gunk out of my pores. Worth the try if you have oily, acne-prone skin like mine! :)
Are there any skin care products that you are loyal to? Or any you are currently loving?
