Travel Project: Postcard Diary
3:08 PM
My European trip was truly a highlight in 2016, and this I knew before starting my trip. Therefore, I was thinking up of ways to document my travels in some artistic form. I am a fan of scrapbooking, tinkering with arts and crafts. I decided to collect postcards during my solo trip to ensure that summer 2016 memory is forever documented.
Before I left for the trip, I researched into some ideas; some which may be of interest to you, fellow travelers. Some unique ideas that I came across were:
- Buy a perfume local to the vacation spot and spray during the trip. Thus, you will always be reminded of that time and place by the scent.
- Take selfies everywhere you go and then compile them into a flipbook-esque video
- Buy postcards and send them to your home address
So I took the idea of a postcard and changed it up! I bought a postcard in almost every city that I visited. On the back of each card, I detailed my day-to-day happenings in that city. It is a rather mundane task to compile all these cards and document your daily activities. But now that I am back at home, I am thankful for completing such a project! :)
I did also keep some ticket stubs of my trip so I may incorporate those somehow. I have yet to print my pictures as well (all those selfies that I took with my handy dandy selfie stick!). Perhaps I will create an album of my adventures in Europe 2016. But here is the first of my travel project:
Here lay all my postcards in disarray. What shall I do with them all?!
After much consideration, I decided to purchase these clear photo holders on Amazon. I bought the two pocket, 5x7 photo holders that can be organized into a three-ringed binder.
Voila! Now these postcards will be protected. Also I will be able to see both the front and back. I have put them in chronological order so I can relive my solo trip of 5.5 weeks. Now all I need is to find a pretty three-ringed binder to keep them together.
